The issuance of paper tickets for air travel is being phased out and e-tickets will become the standard ticket format issued by Gulf Air and its travel agents across the network.
 |
Why is e-ticketing being introduced? |
| |
To provide passengers with a more streamlined, efficient and convenient service.
|
 |
Is there a change in procedure for passengers? |
| |
No - in fact, it makes your life much easier. You don't even have to go to a ticketing office to make a reservation and receive a ticket - it can be done remotely. |
 |
Where will e-ticketing be available? |
| |
Gulf Air has completed implementation of e-ticketing on all routes that it serves and this will be the only form of ticketing issued to customers.

What if I don't want to use an e-ticket. Do I have a choice? |
| |
As of 1 June 2008 passengers can no longer select to have paper tickets issued. Wherever possible an e-ticket will be issued.
There are very few exceptions when this is still not possible and these are:
- Any ticket issued due to a disruption as a choice of the airline.
- An interline ticket (a ticket with flights made on several airlines) where e-ticketing is not possible.
- Where the Gulf Air flight is operated by an airline where Gulf Air does not yet have an Interline e-ticketing agreement in place.
|
 |
Does this mean that Miscellaneous Charge Orders, refund vouchers etc, will also be issued in the same way without paper? |
| |
No, for the time-being, these items will still be paper based.
|
 |
Will infants be issued with an e-ticket as well? |
| |
Yes, also in most cases of interline travel (a ticket with flights made on several airlines). Very few tickets on partner airlines still require a paper ticket for the baby. |
 |
When I make a PTA request, I am not given any papers. How do I know that a booking exists for the person ticketed? |
| |
An email with a link to the e-ticket Receipt will be sent to the person for whom the ticket is being issued. This is faster, safer and more efficient. Local office staff will also call the passenger to advise them of the transaction.
|
 |
What happens in the case of a disruption? |
| |
Every effort will be made to contact you before you depart for the airport and to make any other arrangements necessary.
|
| Reservations |
 |
How can I book an e-ticket |
| |
In the same way that you would book a conventional ticket - at a ticketing office, over the phone or on the website. |
 |
Can an e-ticket only be issued when an online booking is made? |
| |
Not at all. This is just one way of making a booking. |
 |
Can an e-ticket only be issued for people travelling without luggage? |
| |
e-tickets will be used for all passengers on certain sectors, whether they have luggage or not.
|
 |
How do I know a booking has been made if I am not issued with a ticket? |
| |
An email containing a link to the e-ticket Receipt with all details of your booking will be sent to you. If you are making the booking at a ticketing office, then you can receive your e-ticket Receipt on the spot.
|
 |
What can I do if I don't receive an email? |
| |
Go to My Bookings Enter your family name and the six-character reservation code provided to you by Gulf Air. If you still encounter problems, please call your nearest Gulf Air office. |
 |
How can I make changes to my booking as I don't hold a ticket to be changed? |
| |
Just by calling your local ticketing/reservations office. You don't even need to go there in person, as the electronic records will be updated on the central system.
|
 |
How is an e-ticket revalidated as there is nowhere to put a sticker? |
| |
As the ticket is electronic, we will no longer be issuing stickers for tickets that have been revalidated. Instead, the update will be made dynamically in the system, where it is visible to all staff involved in processing your journey. |
 |
How close to the departure time can I make changes to my booking/ticket? |
| |
Anytime before departure. |
 |
What happens if I need to change to another airline? |
| |
Your Gulf Air e-ticket will be re-issued to an e-ticket on the other airline whenever possible. Only in exceptional cases will a paper ticket be issued. |
 |
What happens if my flight is cancelled and I have to go on another route where e-tickets are not currently in use? |
| |
The e-ticket will be converted to a traditional paper ticket to enable you to travel. |
 |
What happens if I lose the
e-ticket
Receipt? |
| |
As the record is stored electronically, another copy may be obtained at anytime, either by email or by calling your local Gulf Air office. |
| Check In |
 |
Do I need a copy of the
e-ticket
Receipt to gain entry at the airport? |
| |
In most cases yes, so we strongly recommend that you carry a copy with you as Airport Security requirements can differ by airport, and these are outside our control. |
 |
Do I need a copy of the
e-ticket
Receipt to be able to check in for the flight? |
| |
Yes, as it will make the check in process much faster. We recommend you show the e-ticket Receipt together with some form of identification to make the process as fast as possible. |
 |
If I have an e-ticket, can I still use the e-kiosks for check in? |
| |
